The Open at Royal Portrush It’s that time of the year again where I’m getting ready to leave to coach at the greatest golf tournament in the world, The Open. I am part of a squad of 22 PGA Professionals from Great Britain and Ireland I was so proud to be named in the squad. After retiring from playing myself through injury, I have dedicated my whole career to coaching and helping others. This for me is the pinnacle, also made extra special as it completes my PGA badge of coaching at The Welsh Open, British Opens at Hoylake, Royal Birkdale and Carnoustie and now The Open in Northern Island, covering the shamrock we proudly wear on our crest. I leave for Belfast on Saturday the 13th and return on Tuesday 23rd of July. I will be proudly flying our Lee on the Solent flag during my time there. I get also to see and coach with my long term friends PGA Master professional Peter Ball, PGA Professional Alan Bradshaw and PGA Professional and Zen Golf Master Coach Marcus Bell. As luck would have it, 2 of our 4 ball are quite fond of the Guinness and one of which is me! If you are visiting The Open then pop in and say hello at anytime, I will be coaching in the R&A Swingzone all week.
