Fantastic results from our ladies group coaching

Our ladies group coaching sessions have been running for five weeks now with some fantastic results. We meet each week on Wednesdays at 1pm – 2pm and work on a different area of the game, building everyone’s skills and knowledge.

Open to all, our group sessions have really linked members and guests, making new friends and learning about the game. Its been fantastic also seeing the ladies in the clubhouse afterwards enjoying a drink together and really feeling part of the club.

Great dedication from Joe

We have been lucky enough this week to have the help of one of our Junior members, Joe Wheeler.

Joe attends Bay House School where he completed three exams early to give himself the opportunity to spend the week with us - really great dedication at his young age. Joe has been a massive help, he has learned many areas within the Professional Shop this week and has got on with tasks and asked on numerous occasions what he can help with next. Joe would like to make a career out of golf and this has given him a really good insight, looking after members and guests and even answering the telephone from day one, something I dreaded all those years ago.

We’re really proud of you Joe for how you have embraced this opportunity and thank you for all your help.

Scotty Cameron and Vokey Fitting Day

Chris Courtneige of Titleist will be with us on Friday 2nd August with all the latest Scotty Cameron putter models and SM7 Vokey wedges.

Chris is a product specialist and will be running through the benefits of how a custom club of this grade can really help your game.

The range will include the new Phantom X Line putters and the classics we’ve all come to love over the years.

Hands up...

...if the only time you 'practice' your wedge play is when you hit a few shots at the start of your warm-up routine? Sadly, this isn't going to lead to a dialled in wedge game, which is one of the fastest ways to see your scores come tumbling down.

1 club. 3 swings. 3 distances.

Sounds easy, right? Well, it could be but first there are two things you must do in order to start saving shots.

1. Correctly gapped wedge system - What we mean by this is having an equal gap between each club in your bag, so you're never left trying to 'manufacture' a shot on the golf course (this is where large numbers start). Cobra's MIM wedges are perfect for exactly this reason, coming in a range of lofts from 50 to 60 degrees so you have every distance covered with your wedges.

2. Have 3 distances with each club - As per the graphic above, if you became comfortable with full, three-quarter and half swings with each of your wedges, you’ll find that your wedge play becomes seriously more effective.
