At the end of a week that saw golf hit the headlines in the UK with some courses in England re-opening, it also made a return to our screens as McIlroy and co teed it up on Sunday in a special fundraising event in Flordia. Talking of players, our video of the week showcases some of the craziest moments to have ever happened on the PGA Tour and is well worth scrolling down this newsletter for a watch. Stay safe and enjoy the read. Kevin.

Golf is back Golf made returned to our TV screens on Sunday evening as Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson took on Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff at the TaylorMade Driving Relief in Florida, raising over $4 million for charities helping with relief efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic. Understandably, the quality of golf wasn’t at its highest but it made for fascinating viewing. Players wearing microphones and carrying their bags, no spectators lining the fairways, and a golf course in pristine condition. The players competed in a skins match, with extra money raised for birdies, eagles as well as a couple of long drive challenges – Wolff launched massive drives of 356 and 368 yards to take the honours here. With the final six skins rolling over with each hole halved, a 120-yard nearest-the-pin shootout was needed to decide the overall winners. The result? Rory showing why he’s the world number one by knocking a wedge to within 12-feet to secure victory for him and DJ. It was great to see some live golf back on TV and for such a tremendous cause. If you watched it, we’d love to know what you thought. Did you enjoy hearing what the players were saying to each other? Would you like to see more events like this? Do you think golf missed an opportunity to showcase gender equality? Let us know here.

Individual Coaching Safely Returns
|
Tuesday the 19th saw a safe return to individual coaching for us, with limited times available for the first two weeks. Coaching is my absolute passion and to be able to be out there helping our players again was so very special, it's true what my old coach said that coaching is like riding a bike, you never forget!
Our absolute number one rule is to keep You and our Professionals safe, please find the following guidelines that must be followed for everyone’s safety, I am not willing to take any chances with this and will be applying the following stringently. Should players not adhere to these guidelines a lesson will be terminated immediately at a cost to the player. |
|
Please wash your hands with soap and water before and after the lesson. Physical distancing must always be maintained at a minimum of 2 metres, ideally more wherever possible I will endeavour to create an exclusion zone around the lesson Players must provide all their own equipment, including tee pegs and practice golf balls Please bring hand sanitiser with you and use it at regular intervals Should I need to move a player into position, this will be done from a distance with an alignment stick that will be cleaned before and after the lesson Players will be responsible for retrieving their own golf balls Playing Lessons at Lee-On-The-Solent - Available for Lee members only for the next 3 weeks whilst the course is likely to be exceptionally busy: Please wash your hands with soap and water before and after the lesson Physical distancing must always be maintained at a minimum of 2 metres, ideally more wherever possible Players must provide all their own equipment Please bring hand sanitiser with you and use it at regular intervals Flags will always remain in the hole and must not be touched I will not be handling golf clubs, golf balls, assisting with trollies etc. Please remain in your car until a few minutes before your lesson is due to start. Warming up adjacent to where I may already be coaching is not permitted. If you feel unwell or have any symptoms at all, PLEASE DO NOT COME TO LESSONS - Even if that means cancelling last minute and contrary to my usual cancellation policy. All 2020 gift vouchers will be extended so that any credit will not be forfeited. I hope that helps and should you have any questions, please let me know. |

| Dear Lee Juniors I hope you’re all well and working hard on your school work from home and spending precious time with your families, hopefully when its safe we can return to Junior group coaching, we will be guided on this and keep you all updated. To prepare you all over the next few weeks we will be running a weekly challenge for our juniors in the Lee Junior Stay Safe at Home Series, each week we will post out a skills challenge for you to complete at home, prizes can be won and the overall series winner will receive the prestigious title and trophy to keep forever. This week’s challenge can be seen in video below, “The keep up challenge”, the rules are to see how many times you can bounce the ball on your club face without it touching the ground, the winner will be the most improved over the week. Click here to watch the video. Have one attempt and record your score and then try and improve each day, the score we will require is the difference between your first attempt and best attempt, I had to stop myself when I got to one million. Please video your two attempts and email in to me at kcaplehornpga@btinternet.com before 7pm on Tuesday 26th of May, Good luck to you all. |

When you get the chance to venture back onto the course for a game of golf, we want you to get as much enjoyment out of it as possible whilst following social distancing guidelines. It might not be for right now but something to consider for the future is Motocaddy’s range of stylish and compact (can easily fit in your boot alongside your clubs) electric trolleys. They have some fantastic options at affordable prices, all of which will take the strain off your back and allow you to walk the course in comfort!
